Can I use standard Kreg screws for an exterior tabletop I'm building?

I'm building the top to my Big Green Egg table out of 2x4 cedar boards (ripped on each side to get a straight edge). I've got all my pocket holes drilled....but I'm struggling with what size screw to…Continue

Best way to build an apron for a small table using Kreg system.

I'm building a child's table for my grandson for his 2nd birthday.  I've built the top out of maple because it's a harder wood.  NOTE: I wanted to use hardwood versus just one piece of plywood so…Continue

"You can buy 1 1/2 Blue Kote in Australia so you should be able to get them too. I would think rust would eventually be a problem, underside or not."

I'm building the top to my Big Green Egg table out of 2x4 cedar boards (ripped on each side to get a straight edge). I've got all my pocket holes drilled....but I'm struggling with what size screw to use.Based on Kreg's suggestions the screw length that should be used is 2 1/2" screws on 2x lumber. That's way too long for edge joining these boards but it looks like 1 1/2" length screws should be about perfect. With that said, it appears to be difficult to find 1 1/2" blue-kote screws (wanted to…See More

Best way to build an apron for a small table using Kreg system.

I'm building a child's table for my grandson for his 2nd birthday.  I've built the top out of maple because it's a harder wood.  NOTE: I wanted to use hardwood versus just one piece of plywood so that I could learn how to build solid wood table tops.  I finished putting together the table top today and it looks good (nice and flat) but now I'm trying to figure out the best way to make the apron.  First of all, even though I used maple on for the top I'm thinking about using pine on the apron…See More

"Hello Jeff!   It is based on the thickness of the piece you are drilling your pocket holes into.   As for the other question, I would think you use the thickness of your plywood and drill the pocket-holes in the plywood, then drive the…"

Setting depth on Kreg jig

Hi all...I just recently started using my Kreg jig.....when setting the stop on the drill bit (as well as determining screw length) what is the measurement based on?  Is it based on the thickness of the material I'll be screwing thru or the thickness of the mating piece you're screwing into? I'm going to be putting trim pieces of solid pine around my double thick plywood (2 pieces of 3/4" baltic birch plywood) and I want to use my Kreg jig.  Do I base my setting on the 1 3/8" of plywood or the…See More

I really like the k5 it is faster to change from different size of screws. I hesitated to update because of some of the reviews about the dust collection hook up. That to me one of the improvements it works perfect no dust to cleanup .…
