What is this and what should I do with it?

This came from a store that salvaged odd pieces of wood and table legs. I paid $5.00 for it.
My dad, who builds model airplanes says it has the shape of a wing. (shown in the end shot)
I keep looking at it wondering "What wonderful thing can this become?" As of now the only thing I can come up with is hollowing it out and making it a vase.
Any ideas? I would love to know where it is from, what it is, etc.

See the way it tapers? I am told that is how airplane wings are shaped. Hmmmm Maybe I need to build a wind tunnel to test it.
Oh, and it is very heavy! Not lightweight like you would think a wing would be.

Right shape for a fairing or strut, but not a wing. It would make a cool spoiler on a go-kart! :)

I say cut it for a coffe table base. My wife said carve it into a totem pole.

The cross-section is basically consistent with many aircraft or maritime parts. It's not an airfoil for creating lift (aka wing), but would be used in areas where structure is required and drag needs to be minimized(aka struts, fins). Can't say it's not an aircraft part. It just wouldn't work for a wing.

It's NOT a wing or aircraft part.
I say build a single leg table out of it- just attach a base wuth 4 levelers and a nice rectagular top.

Or, could it be the base for a nice table?

Could you cut it in half and make Thresholds?

Just make sure... if you're going to serve soup, put a flat on the bottom so the tray can't rock back and forth and spill everywhere!

what are its dimensions?

That is a great idea! I hadn't even explored my food options with it... maybe one of those taco servers.

Well, I'll be the first to admit... I don't know what this is, although I don't really think it's in the shape of a wing, because a wing has to be much more round on the top, and much more flat on the bottom to create a variance in air pressure.

Anyway, the only thing I can think of off the top of my head would be to turn this into sort of the biggest and fanciest serving tray ever. Hollow out spots for the bowls, put a beautiful finish on it, and serve appetizers, etc. to the table.
