The problem with traditional squares is that while they give you a straight edge, they do nothing to simplify and speed up the process of aligning your saw to your pencil mark. The Kreg Square-Cut™ simplifies this process with an adjustable guide arm that can be set to work with any circular saw or jigsaw. Simply match the arm to your saw’s unique offset, then use the Square-Cut™ to make fast and accurate cuts over and over again.

The Square-Cut's adjustable guide arm can be set to match any circular saw or jig saw. It compensates for the length from the blade to the edge of the base plate. What does this mean for you? Instead of eye-balling the blade on the pencil mark or using your tape measure to set back your saw from the line to a specific length, all you have to do to get a perfect cut is place the guide arm next to your mark, and make your cut. Faster results, fewer mistakes, and much less aggravation.

i think lefties can use it but they'll have to place it at the far end of the timber rather than the near end. that's how i like to use my speed square sometimes.

KREGRep's directions are right on. A little trick of my own that worked great for me. (My opinion only.) I took one of my KREG clamps and LIGHTLY clamped the Square Cut in place. There is no damage at all! You have 10 rubber feet so it will stay in place. Then I had both hands for my saw control. Not unlike you folks, speed is great, but, I'm more concerned with Quality! KREG Tools are the best in the business. (My opinion.) In my shop, SAFETY, controlled SPEED, and QUALITY. This is my main hobby. If I spend 30 seconds or one minute longer, back to results! I bought the Square-Cut (and Multi-Mark) yesterday at Lowes. I haven't had a chance to use either tool yet. Ok, here we go, my thoughts right out of the box:
1) The Square-Cut should be made of the same material the Kreg jig is made of. (If it is, then I apologize.)
2) It doesn't feel substantial. The whole unit should be thicker, more heft. I'm concerned how well Square-Cut will hold up banging around a tool box or roughed up at the a job site, etc. Also, under heavy use, I think the portion of the Squre-Cut where the saw runs along will show wear sooner rather than later. Perhaps reinforcing that part with a denser, smoother material might help.
3) Replace the exisitng screw that locks down the arm with a brass screw (like featured on the Multi-Mark). This allows you one-handed adjustment and eliminates the need for a screwdriver.

My first thought was also that it would get nicked accidentally. What this needs is a slot in the main body of the square and a two piece adjustment arm that is hinged on the left, with the adjustment screw through the top piece and through the slot in the main body. Adjust the arm for your saw, place it on the wood, flip the adjustment arm out of the way and make your cut. True, it would cost a little more to manufacture, but as it is, it isn't something I would be interest in buying. Two pieces of wood screwed together (90* of course), with the corrective arm cut off with the saw I am using it with is all I need. What do you think?

Lowe's in South Mississippi does not have them in yet. Nor do they have the crown pro in. These are the only place I have been able to get any Kreg prodects except some screws I purchased from Amazon. Amazon beats Lowes prices on almost everything they offer so far. Free shipping if over $25. Check them out.

As home DIYer, the KREG SQUARE-CUT seems to be a useful tool with real-world, every day application. That's value-add. And yes, I would consider buying it after the in-the-field verdict is in.

Also, as straight forward as the SQUARE-CUT is to use, a video showing the tool in action would be ideal and help answer a lot of questions.

PS: If a product Kreg testing group does exist I would like the opportunity to contribute my input.
