Leg splitting

I am building an oak table with 3/4" aprons and 11/2" by 11/2' square legs with the apron and legs set flush. I used 11/4" fine thread screws and normal settings on hole drilling in the apron. i got splits while driving the screws on 3 out of 4 legs. This happened on the screws nearest the leg end but my setback followed guidelines from Kreg. Any suggestions?

Kreg Accuracy on a panel jig

I went to the Dallas Woodworkers Show and purchased the items to make my Right Hand Panel Cutting Jig provide Kreg Cutting accuracy. The scale on the jig allows precise settings up to 67 inches. It works great. When cutting multiple panels or even boards, I just set the Kreg to the dimension I need and cut one after the other. I previously used a clamp and a small block of wood. St. Paul Winter Carnival Chest

Not long ago, a Facebook friend of mine let me know that she was going to organize a silent auction fundraiser dinner for the St. Paul Winter Carnival. She's an active Royal Guard member, and takes her role seriously. During this last summer, the Royal Guard and the Vulcans decided to have two paintball matchups. I get a lot of members on this site asking me about how I incorporate woodburning to my projects. The people at Kreg Jig even suggested I make a blog post on here.
