A simple little table that is constructed from cherry and assembled with krg jig joinery, still needs to be finished, does anyone have any ideas about what kind of finish I should use. I'm leaning torwards a natural stain with a wipe on high gloss poly.

Alex thanks for looking, as Hugh has stated the clips allow for movement in the wood, not only that but I think they are easier to use and they are cheap enough, just rout a 1/8th groove on the topside of the apron and you can put them anywhere you want them. Thanks toboth of you for your comments

Ahh okay, makes sense. Just something that I don't really take into account much here in SA with the weather being rather temperate. We don't have nearly the extremes that you have.

Alex,

Wood expands and contracts with temperature/humidity changes. This is more prevalent in a large slab (table top). Pocket holes would not allow the top to float with the changes and would subsequently cause the top to buckle or warp. The old school way is to put the screw through a slightly larger hole to allow for that movement.

Ray,

Excellent work. :)

Why not pocket hole join the base to the top?

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
