Designing and dimensions

I just wondered how everyone else goes about deciding what dimensions to use for frame widths etc. How do you come up with height vs length vs depth ratio's. I have looked at Fibonacci's golden ratio…Continue

Hi Alex

Do you perhaps have a sketchup plan for the floating shelf you did? I really like the design. Being a rookie, I am OK with following a plan, not so good with doing it myself. In particular I am quite interested on how you assembled the white painted section of the floating shelf. Thanks in advance.

Hi Jim, thanks for that. that is a sure easier way that what I used on my last project. I put a dado in each of the sides of the drawer and then added a "L" shaped piece from the inside of the top that would run inside the dado. There are a 100 ways to fit a drawer!

Hi Alex, here are a couple of pics of how i did the drawers.

Because these drawers won't be used that frequently I opted just to install guides made from some leftover 3/8 hardboard for the bottom and a couple of pieces of 2x scrap for the sides.

On the back of the drawer I glued a guide to keep the drawer from tipping when it is pulled out.

Miter Saw Recommendation

I’m looking to upgrade my miter saw. I’m willing to invest a good amount of money to get one with the precision pocket hole joinery requires. Would anyone like to offer a recommended model?

New Kreg 720Pro

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
