Rita and Geroge,  I appreciate your comments very much.  Yes  I am always busy with cutomers projects and it seems that there is never enough time to complete everything that there is to do in a day.

The molding is somewhat complicated and take alot of math to figure out how to make a multi-piece molding that will remain consistant stick to stick.  Since the table saw only cuts at a 45 degree angle and in one direction your options are then limited to 45 degrees.  Since the was a 52 degree spring angle you hve to divide the cuts to equal the 52 degrees and use multiple pieces of material.  In this case the first cut was at 42 degrees and then the next cut is at 10 degrees.  Now you have made your self another problem and that is the gluing of the the two pieces together.  I did not want to use pins nails due to the probable damage to the miter saw teeth.  I had two options and that was to use a full length spline or biscuits.  The other is an old trick I have used for years and that is to use the common electrical tape.  If you strech it tight around the odd shaped piece the fact that the tape has a memory in it and desires to return to its pre-streched copndition it will actually become a excellent clamp.  Band strap clamps work but this is much better.  To prevent the two angles from wanting to bend inward simply use a block cut to 52 degrees on the miter saw and use is as jig type block.  The oak grains do pop out and what is seen in the photos is only the stain.  I will lacquer it in a few days and it will then definately pop.  Again thank both of you for you interest and nice comments.

Jay, Beautiful job.  You have been busy.  From the looks you also have to have plenty of patients.  The design in the oak really stands out making the dental molding pop.  That is what I am working for when I am on a project.  Again beautiful job.  Like Rita said that is why we haven't heard much from you.  Thanks for sharing.  George

Very impressive Jay!  Now I know where you have been keeping yourself!  You did a great job from all the numerous cuts, design, right down to the finish.   I am sure your customer is quite pleased!

Thanks David for the nice comment.  This is for a cabinet job that I did a few months ago and the customer was wanting to think about a design for a crown molding.  He finally let me design it so this  what I came up with.  It was a lot of work but fun to do as well.  The crown had to be large as it is 10 ft ceilings and although the cabinets are tall there is a 6 inch gap above them.  There is a vent pipe system that is hidden above the cabinets.
