I made this for my Uncle Jess's casket flag. He served in Vietnam and worked tirelessly for our local VFW post. It's made of the best grained cedar I could find and finished with a semi-gloss finish. The joints were made with my Kreg Jig. The diamond shape was copied from a design I saw on the web; the top for the flag and the bottom I displayed Uncle Jess's VFW Commander's hat, a mini service medal display and one of his gun salute brass. The brass nameplate is accompanied with the US Navy insignia set into the middle shelf. The front is inset with glass. The rear door opens and has enough room to house military books, papers and photos. It was a gift to my cousin in honor of his dad.

A great project and tribute to a veteran serviceman. It's a beautiful and well crafted display case, like the design, tight joints, the cedar and the finish. I'm sure they're proud to show this with the mementos. Great job!

Very nice project, Ron, and very nice way to honor your uncle. He'd be as proud of your craftsmanship as you are of his service. Thanks for sharing!

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
