hey jason i just times my materails cost by 5 and the how i figure my cost,,  but if you buy your wood at lowe's you won't be able to do that,,,  i get my wood from my local sawmills,,  wood is alot cheaper but their more work and time involved in it that way,,  you got to let it dry to 8 to 6% to be right to work with,, then all the plaining and sanding,,  but pine is .80cents to $1 dollars a board foot and oak is form $1.5 to $2 bucks a board foot,,
