I am currently working on the quality of my finishes. I am going to use a HVLP sprayer on the bookshelf and other projects. I will get back to you about how it turns out.

Personally I love my desk. Yes because it is by far stronger and custom fit to the space but what I love the most about it that it cost approx. $200 to build (materials only). Where I did research for my wife who wanted to purchase an L-shaped desk and similar desk were approx. $1000. Oh that also includes the upper cabinet and bookshelf that I made also.

What was your final verdict on the project?  I did something somewhat similar in my den, although not nearly as well.  When I finished, though, I decided that next time I would just buy because I wasn't happy with the finish.  It just seems that you can't get a really nice finish, like they do on store purchased projects.  You can make it a lot stronger and better, but the finish is a problem.

Thank you, but I wasn't pleased with the paint finish on the desk portion. I am going to try a different application I saw on This Old House.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
