This question has been on my mind for a long time. When I got my Kreg Pocket Hole Jig, my first project was the workbench. At that time the HD Jig for 2x4s was not yet available. So, my question is, would/should I use the HD jig to build that workbench today? There certainly isn't any problem with my first WB, but it is 2x4s and that is what the HD was designed for.
Anybody done that yet?
Thanks, Steve

Steve,
You should get satisfactory results using the jig you have; however, I'd use 2-1/2" long screws.
I don't have the plans in front of me, but I think that is what they call for and what I used.
Thanks
Steve,
When drilling pocket holes, use the required amount of spacer blocks on the jig, for the intended material thickness.
You want the screw exiting in the center of the workpiece, that you are drilling the pocket hole into.
Make sample test pieces to insure your getting adequate thread engagement.
The deeper the threads engage, the stronger joined member you'll have.
None of that was my question... My question was simply whether to use the standard jig or the HD jig which uses a larger diameter screw for 50% more strength. Since the HD jig was designed for 2x4s for benches and outdoor furniture and such, I decided to go ahead and use it. Got all the machine work done today and tomorrow I will do the assembly.

Hi. I'm wondering if anyone has used the Woodpecker Free Hand Guard for dust collection on their bench top router table during pattern routing. How effective is it? It's adaptable to any router table. Continue

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.
I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.
First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
