Kreg Owners' Community

I am wanting to do a few beginning wordworking things (and maybe some non-beginning things soon). Mostly bookshelves, storage cubbies, closet organizers etc.  Any suggestions on which Kreg Jig I should get? I see there is a kit, a Jr, and a few other options and I wasn't sure which one I would need.

Thanks.

Hi Kimberly- Cheapest way to do it is go with the Master system first. You will grow into it very quickly. I started by buying the Kreg Jr and outgrew  it very quickly.

By the kit. It will give you everything you need to get started.

Any suggestions on the K3 or K4? I had been reading that some like the K3 better, but I would love to buy on Amazon since I have Amazon cash and they only sell the K4...thoughts?

The K4 is great, use it all the time.

Kim,

The K3 was replaced by the K4.

The K3 is NLA. You may get lucky, finding one somewhere, in someone's shop.

I have a K3, but it's not for sale,sorry.

Personally, I prefer the K3 to the K4.

The K3 features the clamp on the front side of the drilling jig.

Buy the K-4 and if you can afford it add the Jr because you will find that it will come in handy for many projects.  I have the K-3, Jr, and the mini system.  Each has been useful in different situations. The most important thing that I can sugest is build a large selection of the Kreg clamps especially the ones with the long throats, and get a pair of the corner clamps, I use mine on every project.  Larry D.

Ken, the other day at Rockler, I heard that Kreg defeated that patent infringement suit over the K3 clamp design, and soon Kreg will re-introduce the K3 style.

Rick,

That's good news.

I'm sure many will be pleased with the K3 coming back.

I prefer my K3 to the K4.

 Hi, Kim.

I have the k4 Master System. Mine came with a dvd showing how to use it and if you have a workshop you will start reading and building with the k4 and having fun. I still need more clamps like Larry E Dennis clamps are a must.  Do you homework on what you could afford and go from there.

Free Hand Guard (dust collection)

Hi.  I'm wondering if anyone has used the Woodpecker Free Hand Guard for dust collection on their bench top router table during pattern routing.  How effective is it?  It's adaptable to any router table.  Continue

New Kreg 720Pro

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
