Type of Wood?
Hi,
I am looking to build a blanket trunk for my daughter but I can't seem to figure out what type of wood is in this picture. Does anyone know?

It appears to me, to be knotty pine.
Red Cedar would make for a beautiful blanket chest.

I’d dig a a finger nail into it, if it yields it’s pine, maybe. Looks like pine and still may not yield. Nice box joints though.

It looks to be either knotty pine or possibly knotty alder. I built an arched top chest using knotty alder and the wood has similar appearances.

ps. Alder, although classified as a hard wood is also very soft and the fingernail test wouldn't help as it dents easily, like pine.
