Has anyone built the toybox from the downloadable Kreg plans? I built the workbench and birdfeeder no problem but I have issues with the toybox.

Firstly, when using the suggested 1x3 for the side frames they do not cover my pocket holes!

I double checked my jig was set to 3/4" as per the instructions and the holes look the same distance from the end as on other projects. What seems to be the issue is alowing for the thickness of the sides. I am a woodworking newbie so I want to check if I messed up some where or if there is a mistake on the plans. For now I will buy some 1x4 and use that to build the frames and cover the holes.

Secondly, the plan calles for 7 1x3x8' lengths of pine board, yet the cut diagram shows a maximum of 60" used on each one, ignoring blade thickness to make the math easy, that leaves 3' of each board left, which seems like a lot of "waste" to me. Heck, I think 5 boards should be enough.

So has anyone come across these same issues or is it a mistake on my part.

Thanks.

Nathan,
I'm very sorry you've been having problems with this Toy Box plan. Recently, we've discovered some inconsistencies and incorrect measurements being offered in our plans, the Toy Box plan in particular. I'm very sorry that you've had this problem. If you go online at www.kregjig.com today and download a new set of plans, the measurements in for this particular plan have been fixed.

If you have additional questions, please contact our customer service department at 1.800.447.8638. They will be glad to help you out however they can.

Thanks for posting this issue to the community forum so that the issue could be shared with all.
KregRep,

Thanks for the note I just downloaded the plan again but it is still the same one, so I guess I will try again later!
Nathan,
Check the cut list. I think you'll see some different measurements there now. I can't be sure (check with customer service if necessary) but that could have been the problem.

No new plans yet, but after speaking to customer support I think there will be some on the way!
So almost done, just some personalization to go.

The joints between the face frames aren't as tight as I would like but the good thing about having two kids is I get to try again!! Also kids don't care about these things.

The box was built as per the Kreg plans except the face frams are 1x4 not 1x3 and this thing weighs a ton!
The toy box turned out great, Nathan! I really like the colors you chose. I'm sure the kids will love it!
Thanks, the colors are left over from the wall so it will certainly match!
Here'a a picture of toybox number two. I'm much happier with the tightness of the face frames this time.

This time I used kreg joints to join 1 end and 1 side together (forming two L's) and then glued them to the box. This created much tighter joins.

New Kreg 720Pro

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
