Kreg Owners' Community

Hello Everyone, I work for a company that needs to have small pieces held in place and I was thinking of using a Kreg clamp.  The issue is the clamp would need to be made of Stainless Steel so it can be sterilized.  Does anyone know if the Kreg tools are built of Stainless Steel or are they some other grade?  Any input would be appreciated.

Just how small of a piece are you talking about? Going to be tough finding medically approved equipment in a home improvement department. That said, I have a couple of sets of hemostats that are really handy for clamping/holding very small pieces. Kinda have my curiousity arroused now though, will do a bit of googling

The pieces are small, but hemostats won't work. We have plenty of those, but thanks for the information. We would be machining pieces that are roughly 1x1/8x1x1/2. We were thinking of using the clampclamp to apply pressure on a plate to hold the piece down.

"1x1/8x1x1/2"

??? don't understand the dimensions exactly.

What kind of material and what kind of machining do you need done? Maybe just need a way to hold it down, or to keep it from sliding around?

Sorry about that, I tried to reply from my phone and I missed that extra 1 in there.  It should read 1"x1/8" x 1/2".  The material is bone and yes we are trying to keep it held in a jig so we can cut it using a band saw to the shape of the jig.  I know that there are clamps made of stainless steel out there, but I have a Kreg bench clamp that I thought would work well to hold the piece in place.

Daniel,

I'm sorry to inform you that our clamps are not made out of stainless steel.  They are normal case hardended steel which we would not recommend for your application.  If you have any other questions please let us know.

Whats the matter with these. And they can be clean time over time.and you can get them in diffent size.use these to hold parts so the robot welded it.

Hi Dan - by sterilized, can they be sterilized through a chemical bath such as alcohol or must they be autoclaved?
