Hello all, I am trying to make a round end table with tapered legs. Any tips for tapering legs? Also, the wooden tabletops sold at the stores (HD, Lowes) have a rounded edge but I want a flat edge (like a coin). Any ideas on how to achieve that look?  (beginner here)

Hello, Debra

Starting with the tapered legs, there are several very simple jigs made that allow you to

choose your taper.  First, you need access to either a table saw or a bandsaw.  You can

develop a jig for routing the tapers.  What tools do you have?  Also, are you talking about

round or square legs?

The profile work on the table edge is fairly straightforward, too.  It involves making a custom

swing arm for a router base and using a straight-cutting bit to gradually reshape the thickness

of the edge.  Circles can also easily be cut on a table saw.  When I say 'easily', I mean that

someone who has gained experience with table saw use, can make a super-simple jig that

will let them do this type of work.

I don't want you to be buried with procedure here without knowing what tools you are

familiar with, and I don't want to put your safety in jeopardy.

Use a router and make up a circle cutting arm take small passes  and it will be flat like a coin
