I'm putting lattice around my deck and want to frame the lattice with pvc composit 1X 2 1/2.

I was going to use the PVC glue and pocket screws.  Has anyone done this and how did it work?

A friend tells me that the PVC glue is good by itself because of the melting/welding of the joints.  Love my pocket screws for all types of face frames and I guess that is what this is for the lattice.

If the screws work in composit, is the glue an overkill.

Thanks

I haven't worked with composites other than Trex. That needs a pilot hole the full depth of the screw or it just kinda disintigrates. I'd do a test piece or two and see what happens.
The manufacturer says corse thead stainless screw are the preferred fastening method with no pre drilling required. I guess what I will need to do is try one frame. The product is quite expensive at $8.00 for a 1 x 2 1/2 x 8'. If anyone has any experience using pocket screws with this product (Tuf board) please share your success or failure.

Thanks John for the suggestion. Think I will pick up a short piece, cut it and screw and glue to test. Will report back my findings.

Thanks once again. Ken

OK

I have completed my test.  The product I used is sold at HD and called Tuffboard.

It is PVC.  Made my cuts and then drilled pocket holes in the appropriate rails.  The corse stainless went in just  with no problem and solid seated.  No spin out.  Seems like a nice strong faceframe ready for lattice.  Installed the PVC lattice  with short stainless screws and it is even better.  I didnt use the PVC glue becuase it asks for the cleaner first and I didn't want purple showing on the white.  I do think though that if I take some off cuts from the lattice and glue it  across the joint on the back side of the frame it will accomplish the same goal.

Hi Ken - looks good, Thanks for the followup.
