Official Deck Jig™ Thread

On March 23rd, 2010, we announced the all-new Kreg Deck Jig™ through the Kreg Jig Owners' Community.  Community members were the very first customers to hear about the new tool, outside the walls of Kreg.  On May 1st, the Deck Jig will start become available at many dealers across the country, including Lowe's, Woodcraft, Amazon, and more!

I was wondering if this could be used for flooring... if you cut the rabbet (if that is what it is) joint shallow enough not to interfer with the angle of the screw and then didn't use the spacer. (This would be for custom cut flooring of course.)

Michael, according to a few of my sources, many local Lowe's stores have begun putting the Deck Jig on the shelf a bit earlier than planned... The Deck Jig should be available at many Kreg dealers starting May 1st.

Saw an add for the DeckJig in the Family Handyman... Happened to be in woodcraft last night and was pleasantly surprised to see it on the shelf.

I am adding on to our deck and wanted a concealed fastener system... This looked to fit the bill.

Only concern now... I do my deck boards at 45 degrees. Being that it has the two 45 degree drill ports I figured that would be the way to go... the video that comes with the unit still suggests using the center hole though.... weird.

Drew, that is correct... we tested all possible joints to figure out the strongest possible way to join the deck boards to the joists... the image below shows you our recommended technique for joining:

I want to use this jig on my next deck project with 5/4 X 6 composite deck boards. As I understand it the boards will only be fastened from one side and I am wondering if there might be any curling occurring.
