Hi my name is Simon and I'm new to the forum. I've just purchase a kreg jig master system. Can someone tell me if there is a max drill speed allowed for this kit. Is 3000 RPM OK?

Hi Simon, welcome to the forum.
Here is a previous thread on Drill Speed. Kregg recommends a minimum drill speed of 2000rpm - but with today's drills lower rpms can be used also.
There is no mention of maximum speed. I would think that 3000rpm would make a nice clean pocket hole. Recently I purchased a Hitachi D10VH which has a rating of 2500rpm and am quite happy with it.
Hi Simon- I agree with James, I regularly use my 14.4 v bosch cordless drill (1500 rpm) in softwood and I've never had a problem ( yes I have 2 batteries- are cordless drills still sold with only one battery?)
I use corded drill to drill and I use DeWalt impact driver for screws because I don't need to worry about over tightening screws.Besides it is more compact for tight quarters
I found that using an electric drill is better, because it is faster. I use a 1/4" electric drill for more portability. It is faster than an electric 3/8" drill. Then your cordless is free to drive kreg screws.
Hi Simon,
Somewhere in Kregdom I remember reading where Kreg recommends a drill speed of 2500 RPM. I like it better than slower speeds so bought a corded electric with a 2500 RPM speed. I'm not sure if the extra 500 RPM would cause any trouble or not.
