Kreg Owners' Community

Hi ya everyone, i am a newbie to diy, i have seen advertisements for the kreg k4 master system and think it is great.

I am purchasing the kreg k4 master system in the next few weeks and was wondering what screw size to use for the following timber.

47mm X 22mm battening

I was given alot of the above size in 8 foot lengths so i am using the above for building frame for bathroom sink unit.

The sizes given above are approximate.

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Paul, I am not sure what battening is, I googled it but didnt come up with a sure answer.

As for the sizes.... I did convert the MM to Inch, the 22mm is just over 3/4 inch, and the 47 is just over 1 3/4 inch... if the edge you are screwing through is the 22mm I would use 1 1/4 inch screws. If you are screwing through the 47mm I would use the 2 1/2 inch screws.

I would treat the 22mm like 3/4inch and the 47mm like 1 1/2inch.

Thanks mike you are a life saver definatly getting this jig now to get work done.

Hi Paul - I don't know for sure but maybe there is a metric calibrated jig available. Save doing conversions for future projects.

I use conversions frequently---no problem here.

I also have some rules, that feature both inch/metric scale---very handy ''at-the-ready'' tool,

as well as a tape measure.

Digital calipers, with inch & metric, is a very useful tool.

Works for me.
