Hello,

My name John and I live in Mechanicsburg, PA.  I have done some woodworking when I was younger with my dad. I have wanted to get back into the hobby of building furniture for a number of years but have lived in an apartment since moving to PA from TN.  Since my family and I are having our dream house built I will finally have a basement that I can use to engage in this hobby.  I am planning on starting out making a king size bed as my first project.  I am in the process of updating my tool collections so I can begin.

Very good and congrats on the DREAM home !!

Hello from my 'man tool basement' place .his has been here for 28 years and mostly used for storage of my 38 Macs of all kinds and models. Got rid of those and the room became storage for CAP. That is over with now. Mt health is going down but I can still tinker. Mt shop is about a single car garage place under the den. This is a walk in room from the outside. I grew up with Dad's real estate company and was digging ditches very young. Went to N C State in Industrial Engineering but Uncle Sam found me and my low grades in 1961. I taught for 28 years 4th thru 14th. I enjoyed most of that. Now I have uTube to to watch bunches of people doing all kinds of things. I find one and try it in the 'man tool cave.' Bought myself the K5 set last week and can't wait to build me some storage space on the wall. Just something about drilling holes. Love the Forsner(sp) drill set and my new drill press from a pawn shop. Can't wait to use my K5 to drill some holes in some wood.

Susan,

Suggest posting this in the "beginners "zone" catagory.

Hi everyone,

I need some help. I am new to furniture construction. I have seen on other sites that joining wood with glue and pocket holes is bad because wood has to move. My daughter and I are planning on making a lot of things this summer using Ana White plans. Has anyone had trouble with their projects cracking and the wood twisting especially on things like a farmhouse table and storage cupboards? Thank you so much!!!!

Hello my name is Billy,  I live in Colorado,  I'm new to woodworking,  my brother told me about the Kregjig and I have been wanting to build a work bench to clean and maintain my guns so I thought I would give it a try. An afternoon later and I now have a work bench. Im sold and am thinking about building new kitchen cabinets.  I cant wait and look forward to finding ideas and learning all that I can.

Hey, my name is Rich. I'm a decent handyman (finished my basement, built decks) but have never messed with building furniture. Bought the kreg jig and built a king platform bed and loved the experience. Now working on a coffee table and a wall hanging the Mrs liked on Ana-white. I fly planes for a power company out of Charlotte NC. Enjoying your pics and advice so far. Thx!

Tom from NJ.  Looking forward to using my Kreg jig for both small projects (bird houses, feeders) and large (indoor furniture).  I'll be trolling around looking for plans and advice.  Thanks in advance!

Hello My Name is Ray I am New to this forum.  I live in Pensacola FL. been doing woodwork on and off for about 20 years. most of what I do is butt joints but now I am trying this new jig and I must say I like it.

Hi everybody I'm Hank from Cincinnati Oh. I took woodworking in the 7th grade. Then raised a family while doing 40 years as a part time musician. Full time toolmaker and then behind a computer for the past 15 years doing Cad/Cam designing and programming of machine tools. I'm about to retire and I'm going back to woodworking! I have spent a few years adding to my basement shop and I know just about enough to be dangerous..LOL I'm having fun so far and with lots of help I hope to have even more!

Hi everyone, I am originally from North Carolina but currently live in Northern Illinois with my wife and two little girls.  I am a Public Works Director for small city here and I'm also working on a graduate degree.  So as you all can see my time is valuable and woodworking is set to become a great hobby.  I have attempted several projects in the past, but none turned out to be worth keeping around.  I received my Kreg Jig this past Tuesday and have started off with the workbench from Chief's site as well as a small table that will slide under a sectional sofa to give me a spot to set down a beer.  So far, so good both have turned out great, except I made the table exactly like the plans laid out without measuring the height of my sectional and guess what I must have the lowest couch in the known world because the table just barely fits with a bit of persuasion.   My wife is already planning my next projects, two nightstands for the girls and a new bed for us, apparently I am gaining too much weight and the queen size just isn't enough for the both of us anymore.  Anyway I think I could go on, but I look forward to getting tips and tricks and hope to post some pictures of my projects soon.  Thanks for the site.

I'm Ed from Berkeley Springs, WV.  I've been woodworking off and on for over40 years.  Main interest is in simple country style and Shaker style small furniture items.  Have done moderate home remodeling-fireplace surround, bookshelves, crown molding, etc. Most rewarding and enjoyable project is the annual USMCR "Toys for Tots" effort.  Maybe this year I'll listen to myself and start production now rather than waiting until after Labor Day and avoid being rushed and under pressure!

Free Hand Guard (dust collection)

Hi.  I'm wondering if anyone has used the Woodpecker Free Hand Guard for dust collection on their bench top router table during pattern routing.  How effective is it?  It's adaptable to any router table.  Continue

New Kreg 720Pro

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
