Kreg Owners' Community

Hey guys so I tried to figure this one out on my own and I think I am there but just want to confirm. I am having my cabinets refinished and while everything was off I wanted to upgrade to concealed self closing hinges. No big deal right? Wrong. Apparently there is a vast selection of different hinges and I need the exact type to fit my cabinet. So I now know I have face frame full overlay style cabinets so I know which type of hinge I need to get. My question is i want something that will function properly could anyone recommend a good brand or are they all about the same? Also is there anything else besides the kreg concealed hinge jig and a cordless drill that I will need to make this project go smoothly?

Thanks again,
Trout

Hi Trout. I too am upgrading my kitchen cabinet doors. All of the information that I've read so far seems to be pointing to Blum hinges. In your case a overlay (In going with 1/2" for ease of building door frames) hinge would get the job done. If you are doing yourself the cheapest Blum soft close hinges that's I've found are on eBay at approx $2.5 each ( buying in bulk at 50).

Hope that helps a little. I think the concealed hinge jig is all you need. If you're putting on hardware yourself you might check out the hardware jig. I'm sure it would be worth it.

I use the 1/2" overlay Blum soft close hinges in all the cabinets that I build.  The only other thing you want to get is a self centering drill bit and make sure you square the hinges to the door.

Free Hand Guard (dust collection)

Hi.  I'm wondering if anyone has used the Woodpecker Free Hand Guard for dust collection on their bench top router table during pattern routing.  How effective is it?  It's adaptable to any router table.  Continue

New Kreg 720Pro

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
