Kreg Owners' Community

I have some wood strips that I want to mitre and make some cabinet doors. The problem is, they have been routed with a nice fancy trim so they won't lay flat when I go to join them. Does anyone have any advice how I can stabilize the wood pieces so when I put in the pocket screws they remain in place?

I included a photo of the trim and the profile to show the actual shape.

Thank you.

Rick,

From your photo 15 017, find the difference between the tall and the short round overs.  Mill a piece of scrap wood to that thickness.  Place the scrap on your workbench or clamping table.  Align your pieces so the short round over is on the spacer you made and the tall round over sits flat on the bench or table.  Clamp and secure the pieces.

Hope this helps, Don

Hi Rick.  What Don suggested should work.  First, determine the distance between the tall and short round overs.  Then, mill a piece of scrap wood to that exact thickness.  Place the scrap piece on your work surface and align your pieces so that the short round over is on the spacer you created and the tall round over sits flat on your work surface.  Then, clamp and secure the pieces.

I will try that. Thank you.
