I have seen so many boxes, but this is by far the nicest looking considering that it comes from scraps. As a beginner now I do not even contemplating of making anything closer to this one. BTW. If you don't mind. Where do you buy your hinges? Is there any online place you can recommend? Thanks.
Thank you everyone!!!
This box was a joy to make, I have a buddy in Maine who wanted something (anything) that I could make for him, he has been a friend for a long time & someone who helped me out in a time of need. I moved to Florida so I no longer was just down the street as I once was, so when he told me how much he would really like to have a keepsake that I made & "was wanting to pay for it", I knew I had to make him something unique & gift to him. It touched me inside when he was explaining how much he wanted something from his buddy (me), something he could be proud to show off to his other buddies back home & say his buddy in Florida made this just for him... I was happy to do so!
Ken, what an impressive looking box you have made here. it is more that eye catching but is something that is intriguing and inspiring to see something that is made of scraps. Some very fine craftsmanship and design work went into this and it turned out to be something of which anyone would value and would be proud to be the owner. Needlessly to say Ken, I am impressed. Thank you for sharing some of your work.
I like the pattern of the two woods are put together. It looks really pretty with the light and dark mix of the dark laurel with the elm showing off its grain pattern. Everything goes great together, nice box. Thanks for sharing your beautiful piece of work, Ken.
Good on you for utilizing your timber scraps to create a beautiful looking box, well done Ken.

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.
I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.
First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
