I designed and built this wine rack using Cherry wood and Poplar 1 inch doweling. It is finished with Red Oak stain and sealed with Tung Oil.

It might warp if you only put bottles on one side. However, the vertical boards are each 2 inches wide by 3/4 inches thick so I think it would hold up pretty well. The distance between the 1 inch diameter dowels is 3.25 inches center to center and 2.25 inches outside to outside. The one thing that can be a problem is that larger bottles (like Pinot Noir) will not fit directly on top of each other so they need to be staggered with the standard 750 ml boutique bottles.
Hey Frank
Great design. I live in the Sonoma/Napa Wine Country and we see many many racks. All of them hang the bottles from the neck.
I REALLY like this design.
A question, do you have to be careful on the placement of the bottles? ie; is the vertical strong enough to hole the top bottles only without wanting to warp?
Again, great design.
Great job on the wine rack Frank and so unusual.

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.
I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.
First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
