I just finished a project using the Kreg Micro Jig with 1/2" birch plywood. I made a few test holes and then began. It worked perfectly. I used the special 3/4" fine screws for hardwood. Every single hole was perfect. I've read where others had trouble with the tip of the screw coming through on the finished side. When you use the proper tools, do some tests, and follow the instructions you'll come out just fine.

I didn't realize there was such a product until I started my latest project (I just posted some photos); the Kreg Jig Custom Storage Unit. It was a project to give me some practice. Basically the Micro Jig allows you to use 3/4" screws with 1/2" material, with no fear of blowing through the holes. Also, the holes are 25% smaller, according to Kreg literature. The price for the Micro Jig Pocket Drill Guide was much better at Amazon than Lowe's.
Thanks, Richard, for taking time to comment on your experience with the Micro. I'm happy to hear that it worked well for you. You're correct that 1/2" ply is a perfect application for this tool. I'll be anxious to see the results!

The Micro Jig is impressive. I used it on the Kreg Jig Custom Storage Unit, with 1/2" birch plywood. Basically, it was a practice project. EVERY hole was perfect. I didn't blow through any holes or poke through on the "other/finish side". And, the holes are smaller. It really did a good job. I'll post a photo as soon as the finish dries. I had a can of 10 year old poly urethane and decided to put it on the unit. I think I'd be uncomfortable using the regular jig on 1/2" plywood.
Richard, Great to hear your project turned out well. I would be interested to know what the difference is between the regular Jig and the Micro Jig?
Thanks,
Mike

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.
I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.
First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…

Several months ago, I purchased the Kreg K4MS so that I could build the Lego Table as outlined on the companion "buildsomething" web site which exclusively uses pocket hole construction. I have considerable experience with conventional…
