I just finished this bookshelf built from the plans on the Kreg website. The dimensions were adjusted to make it taller, thinner, and with two extra shelves to fit a short wall in our kitchen. The finish is black cherry stain and three coats of semi gloss polyurathane. The bookshelf is constructed entirely of oak, plywood for the sides, back, and shelves, and 1"x boards for the face frame and trim pieces.

Thanks everyone! Claude, I used MinWax stainable wood filler to fill in all the joints and seams that had a little bit of a gap after assembly and before final sanding. I think it really gives a nice "seamless" look to the bookshelf.
Great looking and well crafted bookshelves, has clean lines and joints. The crown molding really added to the look. Love the dark stain and pretty finish. Great job Dustin!
Nice job Dustin. It's always fun to see people use and modify plans to meet their needs. Keep up the good work!

Very nice project!
Looks like I need to catch up on my reading. Do I need a library card to check books out? :)
There's always another project in the works for us woodworkers isn't there. The next one will be a large freestanding kitchen cabinet with slide out trays to hold my wife's blender, crock pots, toaster, large pots, etc. We have a limited amount of counter space in our kitchen and there's just not nearly enough room for everything to stay out on the counter. The plan is to construct the main panels of the cabinet out of MDF and just paint it. I did enough staining and polyurathaning on this shelf to last me a while! I'm going to have to learn to use a spray gun.
nice work on the book shelf so whats next?

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.
I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.
First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…

Several months ago, I purchased the Kreg K4MS so that I could build the Lego Table as outlined on the companion "buildsomething" web site which exclusively uses pocket hole construction. I have considerable experience with conventional…
