Gary, This is a great planter idea. Not only is it a nice planter but with some changes in the wood type and sizes it would make a very nice chair for a person. With some slats added to the seat and longer and sturdier legs and back this would be an ideal chair for outdoor use. Good job showing how it is made. Thank you for showing your work.
The back rest for the chair is joined together with biscuit joints to the top rail and slats, pocket holes on the bottom rail to the slats. Pocket holes are not visible on the bottom because pocket hole side is up against the back frame.
