Thanks Joe. No I believe the tv is rated sustain 100+ degrees. I measured the temp around 90+. But I never turn it on anyway and the fan pushes most of the heat outward.
Beautiful piece of work! My question is more of a concern with the heat from the fireplace and the TV above. Doesn't it get too hot?
Hi Antonio,
Actually I haven't used a Kreg join on 1/2 ply so I can't really say. I have used 3/4 plywood and that works fine and 5/8 solid board but I have never gone to as thin as 1/2. I do know the Kreg screw guide shows which length screws for particular wood thickness and they do show 1/2".
Jon
Thanks for the suggestion.
I actually have a questions about the material used to make cabinets. Most of the commercial cabinets are made with 1/2 plywood or melamine and books such as "Cabinets from build like a pro" and the "Kreg how to" use 3/4 ply wood, I like the idea to build them with 1/2 birch plywood making them lighter and less expensive. Can I use Kreg Pocket hole system and 1/2 ply wood to build the case and attach it to the frame with out the need of dado or rabbets?
Thanks

Antonio,
You are going in the right direction as far as tool, there is always something else you will need. Clamps will be a hefty investment as they accumulate over time. I must say this would be a rather ambitious project for just starting out. Each unit is 50" W the bottom half is 36" high and 21" D. The Hutch is 44" H and 14" D. The Shelves are 12" D. The shelves are adjustment and have lighting (this was a little tricky to figure out). For adjustable shelves there is a simple jig on Rockler.com that I have used. Each shelf has a routed channel behind the front lip that conceals the LED lighting strip. The doors are 22h x 11w and have smoked glass with a wire mess covering the glass. Good luck and let me know if you need anything else. Jon
Thanks, for contact me back,
The Information I need are basic dimensions (WxHxD) of: Base cabinet , Doors, upper shelf dimensions.
I have no idea if the dimensions are like kitchen cabinets or no, I have done no wood working before, Im putting together my shop.
Also if you can caould you please tell me what Im missing from the list?? I want to do built ins (kitchen cabinets, book shelf)

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.
I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.
First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
