I have just used the deck jig on pressure treated pine 5/4, works fantastic no issues. I redid my deck with composite last year and used the clips (did not know about this product at the time), they were very expensive and time consuming. Kreg seems to be very well in tune with their customers.

I could see that if you are not careful but having installed a 10' x 24' composite deck with the metal clips they sell you for $100 a box I will definitly take my chances with the jig, my patience was worn thin once I finished putting all those clips on.
Thanks, Kevin. I talked with Trex this morning and they do not recommend using the Kreg Deck Jig. They said the jig sets the screws at an "extreme" angle and can cause the deck to split, which causes other problems. I can send you the pdf file they sent me if you are interested.
Take care.
The 5/4 pine was for another small deck in the back yard to put the kids pool on, I wouldn't trade my composite anything, we love it. I have not used it on the composite yet but i think it will work great.
Just curious.... Since you "redid (your) deck with composite last year", why did you redo it again with 5/4 treated pine? Did you have a problem with the composite?
Also, did you try the 'deck jig' on the composite material?

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.
I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.
First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
