The project turned out great, Damian! What a great economical way to build, plus the quality is bound to be better than the particle board IKEA would have sold you... and it looks like you've ended up with something really useful!

Yes the stand I got in parts. Ikea does have tops for it but I didn't like any of them. Ikea is big on having parts go with many different things to save cost so you can just buy parts of things and then do what ever with it if you have the skills to.
The strange angled corners are for the uprights to fit in between so there isn't a gap for things to fall threw behind the desk.

Interesting project. Did you buy the stand separate, and it called for you to add your own wood? I didn't know Ikea sold stuff like that w/out the wood included. What's the story behind the strange angled corners? Very interesting project, thanks for sharing!

Jig settings for 2 ¾ x 1 ½ boards with 30 degree miters?
