Kreg Owners' Community

Recently my wife and I purchased a new house.  The master bedroom closet was just bare walls; the previous owners had used amoires  in lue of having shelves and closet rods installed.

My wife had purchased me the Kreg Jig k$ Master System for my birthday so this was to be the inaugural project.

Three 4x8 sheets of 3/4" Birch plywood, about 6 hours ripping them to width and cross-cutting to length, with help from my grandson and the parts were ready for edge stripping.

Next was drilling the pocket wholes which went pretty fast, taking only about a hour.

My wife decided she wanted the shelves to be white to match the walls so the next morning she and I moved everything to the backyard, setup some saw horses with 2x4s spanning them and started painting.  Two coats and we were satisfied with the results.

We took the pieces into the closet as I was ready to assemble them.  First the corner shelves with the top, bottom and fixed shelf were attached with pocket screws and the holes I previously drilled.

Next came a two level hanging section with a shelf with closet rods followed by a dresser section with shelves above.  The drawers were all assembled using pocket holes and screws.

Thanks to the Kreg pocket screw system the assembly was quick and the joinery hidden.  The project turned out beautifully.
