I'm setting up the Precision Miter Gauge System for a Rigid R4513 Table Saw. On Page 8 of the Owner's Manual I'm supposed to place the end of the fence 5/8" from the saw blade. When I do that the fence interferes with the blade guard. The blade guard on this saw extends about 1 1/4" from the blade. I've already applied the self adhesive tape to the fence.
Any suggestions on how to accommodate the fence and the blade guard?

Randy,
If the fence does not clear, you will need to loosen the T-knobs and slide the fence over more until it is clear of your blade guard when you swivel it. Once it is able to clear your fence, you will need to tighten the T-knobs back down to hold the fence in place. Then you can position the fence back in the 0-degree spot and continue to calibrate the fence to your saw. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us directly.
I understand those adjustments.
What about the tape that I've put on the fence?
Aren't the marks on the tape synced to the position of the fence to the blade?
Randy,
The marks on the fence will be synced to the position of the stop and not the actual position of the fence. In the next step we have you calibrate the stop based off the distance to the blade.
OK, in order to clear the blade guard the end of the fence needs to be about 1 1/2" from the blade.
So that puts the lens roughly over the 2" mark on the tape. Rather than the 3" mark.
I can understand that because I've moved the fence about an inch from the suggested spot.
What I did was remove the adhesive tape.
Cut it at the 2" mark.
Reapply the tape with the 2" mark at the right end of the fence.
Then adjust the lens to the 3" mark.
Randy,
This will work for the situation you are referring to. Most blade guards do not extend this far out causing it to interfere with the Miter Gauge and this type of adjustment is not necessary. If you have any other questions please let us know.
Thanks!

Hi. I'm wondering if anyone has used the Woodpecker Free Hand Guard for dust collection on their bench top router table during pattern routing. How effective is it? It's adaptable to any router table. Continue

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.
I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.
First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
