I am picking up my Kreg Precision Router Table System tomorrow and I'm new to woodworking so I need advice on picking out a good, not crazy expensive, router that will adjust from above the table. I was looking at the Dewalt DW618, but I called Dewalt and you can't adjust it from above the table. Is this something that's not a big deal or should I hold out for one that does have this feature?

Thank you for your response and all your input. Is a Triton PLUNGE Router OK for a router table..

Yes I am referring to the Triton Router.  There is nothing wrong with the Kreg router tables however I do not have any experience with them.  The one I have is one built by Sommerfeld Tools.  It has a larger table and fence system.

Jay, are you referring to Triton plunge router? And do you suggest the Kreg router table?

Ron I would take a Triton plunge router over any other currently on the market .  That is what I have under my most used router table.  Like I stated in my post they are the best as the come with everything that is needed in a router table.  I have the 3 1/4 hp  model TRA001.

Ron, Yes a plunge is preferred as that will allow you to move the router up and down easily for adjusting cuts.  On the Triton routers they also have a smaller one with less power of which is also good for router tables.  The one I would pick is the large one as I need all the power I can get to do the kind of work that I do.  You might be a ":Newbie" but you will not be for long.  This is a great place to start and I am happy to have you aboard as a member.  Have a question feel free to ask me anything at any time.

Seems to be a lot better value than buying a $300 router lift plus a router!!!!

It is and I am happy with the triton and its performance and especially in the table system from Sommerfeld.  I use it as a professional  and makes excellent table.  here is the one I built.  http://www.smilebox.com/playBlog/4e4445314e5455334e44673d0d0a&b...
