I designed and built this prototype cabinet door. I will be using this design in some new built-ins I'm adding to the living room.
Used the Kreg jig to attach the rails and stiles.
They will be painted white when done.

Thanks Phil,

The panel and detail are 1/4'' mdf. The rails/stiles are furniture grade pine.
I used polyurethane (Gorilla) glue to attach the detail strips.
I am also going to have some doors with glass panels, so I am working on the best way to attach the detail strips to glass.

Nice look. What is the material for the panels? Are the bars glued on? What material are the stile/rails made with?

Wayne, just thinking on the fly here... have you considered following through with the same pattern by etching it onto the glass instead of attaching wood to it? That might look cool... and you could etch it on the inside so that it was still a smooth (easily cleanable) surface on the exterior.
You could also use window film that has the look of etched glass instead of acid etching or sand blasting.
Jesse,
Both really great ideas. I am going to look into that.
Thank you.
I bought this at Home Depot. It was in the upright bins along side their other "nicer" wood like poplar and red oak.
It comes in pre-cut 3/4"x3" or 3/4"x2" boards and is usually knot free and easy to paint. Cheaper than poplar but more expensive than a typical 2x4.

I am looking for a better source for the wood as this was just a prototype so I could get a handle on the design. I have several hardwood outlets here in the Houston area so i need to go shopping soon. (yea!)

Wayne. Where or how do you get "furniture grade" pine? Is there something special you ask for or some place special to go to? I can only seem to get the junk stuff from the lumber yard. I have to cut the nice stuff out of the better boards and throw away the knots.
Phil
When trying to attach any material to glass, I have found the best adhesive is found in auto parts stores, rear view mirror adhesive. As long as the wood is sealed with a smooth surface it works just as well as it does on metal, just do it in a few spots along a long strip

Free Hand Guard (dust collection)

Hi.  I'm wondering if anyone has used the Woodpecker Free Hand Guard for dust collection on their bench top router table during pattern routing.  How effective is it?  It's adaptable to any router table.  Continue

New Kreg 720Pro

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
