Brand New (but empty) Workshop, Bedroom Dresser and Bookshelf

Hi folks, I just retired! And my official new occupation is leisure time.  In that leisure, I've built a new 16x20 workshop (almost finished) in the backyard for wood working.  The inside is not finished yet, but I couldn't wait to start making something.  Now, I can't stop making things long enough to complete the building!  Oh well, what's the rush?

So, one of the projects was a bedroom dresser and bookshelf for my daughter.  The dresser was a challenge since I am somewhat of a newbie to this.  It was really a challenge to center the drawer fronts into the openings so the gap is even all around the drawer.  The dresser generally follows a design by Anna-White, but with several changes.  Maybe I can find a link if anyone is interested.

Now, the shop needs to be outfitted with things such as storage cabinets, work surfaces and an out-feed table for the table saw.  Along with cabinet building instructions, I will be searching for plans for an actual woodworking table.  Not sure what it is really called, but it is the type of table with a couple of vises along the edge that use bench dogs.  I know the REAL ones cost a fortune, but I would like to find one that uses less expensive materials and build it myself.  Can this double as an out-feed table?  If anyone has a suggestion I would be grateful.

Thanks,
Johnny Berry

Check this workbench John. Inexpensive, sturdy and there is set of free plans to build it. It was featured in Woodsmith Shop Episode #206 in case you like to visually see how was it built.

Khalid, that looks like just the right thing, and simple enough even I could do it.  (I reserve the right to amend that statement later).   It looks as if it must weigh a ton!  I appreciate the information!!!  Johnny B

Don't under estimate your capabilities John. The dresser and the bookcase you've built are awesome. The best thing about shop projects it they can tolerate few mistakes here and there (after all no one is gonna criticize but ourselves).
You are correct, it's a heavy workbench but that is intentionally. The last thing you want is a workbench rocking while you are planning or routing :)

However, this can be overcame with this simple mobile solution illustrated in this video

Good luck with your new full time job ;)

Free Hand Guard (dust collection)

Hi.  I'm wondering if anyone has used the Woodpecker Free Hand Guard for dust collection on their bench top router table during pattern routing.  How effective is it?  It's adaptable to any router table.  Continue

New Kreg 720Pro

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
