I haven't built stairs yet but I have read about it and built a sketchup model for my plans.
If anyone could look over it and tell me how it is, it would be appreciated.  I'd like to start building soon.

I would be attaching the one brace per side to the house and flashing it, with the siding meeting that piece.  I used some quick dimensions in sketchup to know how I'll need to lay those brown pieces out so that they hit the correct angle, I will trim the bottoms to length so they don't get in the way of the outside corner of the siding.

The stringers would then be attached to those.

The house is tan and brown, and the stairs will match.

Here is a look at how the stairs will be attached using pocket holes, using info from:

And a complete view of the stairs

Feel free to download the model, pick it apart and tell me what you think.

I updated the model and added scenes too, to make it easier to look at.
Never thought about building stairs with the Kreg Jig. Great idea... and thanks for posting the plans. Think I'll do this for the loft to my new shop if I can!
Is that a duplex? Thanks for sharing the plans... never thought about using that approach.
Yes it is a Duplex.
The house was built in 1905 on a grade, the front of the house is just above ground level
The back of the house, the basement is on ground level.

This is a view of the back of the house.
The middle section on the back of the house was added when plumbing was added, it was built on stilts.
The porches were added later, they were built on stilts.
I jacked up the whole back of the house and built the 2 small additions under each porch, they will be the laundry rooms.
I left the small cubby hole in the middle because the sewer vented there and I also have the hose bibs mounted there, electrical outlets, and a light.
I wanted to minimize the amount that the stairs extended into the patio area since it is a small patio.
Your Sketchup Designs are always great... thanks for posting them. I've used the Kreg Jig to stop the squeaking in stairs before. Very effective.
Great idea. I rebuilt the outside stairs to my home before I knew about the Kreg Jig, I ran screws into the surface of the stairs and caulked all the screw holes, I pitty the next guy who has to remove them, I hope it won't be me! I think I will be OK for the next 20 years if I keep the paint in good shape. The use of Kreg screws would have made a lot better job. and no caulking.

Free Hand Guard (dust collection)

Hi.  I'm wondering if anyone has used the Woodpecker Free Hand Guard for dust collection on their bench top router table during pattern routing.  How effective is it?  It's adaptable to any router table.  Continue

New Kreg 720Pro

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
