You know the moment. 

That tiny little blip in time when you realize that you've messed up?  Sure you do.  You stand there like a fool, staring blankly at the project you've been working on for the past 2 weeks.  Your arms hanging loosely at your sides, your mouth half open in disbelief, your left eye begins to twitch.  It's at that moment when you realize you....

• Made your measurements, cut all the wood, assembled and finished the entire project...only to find that you didn't consider the wood itself in the dimensions
  • example: it needs to be XX wide to fit over something...so you made it XX wide....on the outside.

Wow Geoff I could probably wind up with carpal tunnel syndrome answering this one,but the worst one I can think of was when I was making 4 window boxes that had 2 raised panels in the front of each and I made 8 panels and didn't take in consideration the fact that each panel had to be 3/4'' wider than  the opening. another one was I built an entertainment center for my tv and realized I couldn't get it out of my basement shop, good thing it was built using pocket holes so I could take it apart and bring it up in pcs.

That's a pretty funny story. Every time I finish a piece I have this brief moment of "but what if I was wrong and can't get it where I want it to go". Doesn't matter how many times I measure, same fear every time. Strange... :-)

Hey ray, that sounds like the desk (think Kreg workbench) that I built for work. I built it in my bedroom and the day I went to take it to work I had to take a couple doors down and it just did get through. Although it was built using Kreg joinery; the sides, back and front (2 doors) were made from ¼" hardboard and nailed to the frame, plus the top and bottom shelf was ½" plywood and also nailed down. So it was just one whole unit and not able to break down in pieces like yours.
