Not sure on the engineering specs. I have used the Kreg jig and pocket holes for framing in half a dozen projects. Two of which were out buildings. Both withstood the 139 mph hurricane winds we had two years ago. So I suppose that means the answer to your question is affirmative. I set both jig settings to 1.5" and use 2.5" screws and it should be better than nails. Most stud framing has nails two each top and bottom and that is what the Kreg jig can do just using a screw instead. Your rafter and joist joints are a little trickier but I think better than nails or quick ties. For some it is easier to use the nails, for me I like the screws, due to surgery on my shoulder and hammer work is tough on the body. The plus sides are that screws hold better than nails (IMHO) and if you need to "pull" a screw it is easier than a nail.
