You should not need hardboard cause if bottomed out and saw flush mine always just needs a slight touch-up with paper

Outstanding, possibly using some 1/8'' hardboard under the saw would give one a slightly oversized plug which could then be sanded flush. One problem is that not every species of wood comes in dowel form, this technique would definetly get one out of a hole if Kreg doesn't supply plugs for your project stock.

Excellent! That is what the forum is all about.

When I try to view the videos nothing happens. The rectangular screen, for the video, appears, but it won't play the video. Can anyone tell me how to go about viewing the videos?

cool. after an hour i got impatient and went out to the shop and made a jig now i can cut both ends with a chop saw. i have lots of oak so i had to try it. it worked out OK...

Yes and if the dowel seems to tight I usually take a chunk of dowel and put in your drill motor and spin it with some sandpaper around it. After cutting off on jig go ahead and power sand it flush ,it saves time on project
.Good luck .The screw on bottom is just to poke out the cut plug

i think i got it but to be sure. you drill a hole for the thickness of the wood you are using then insert a screw all the way to bottom, then you put the dowel in to bottom out then cut? then the little bit of wood that the screw had to cut will be stripped out for the next dowel. is that correct?
