half-way panic

Hi, I'm just starting out with woodworking, have made a couple of simple projects, but find I lose all confidence about half way through a project. Just wondered if others hit this wall, too.

My mantra is "you can't mess it up so bad that you can't start over." The point is, it takes lots of practice. We really don't learn much if we don't make mistakes. Just keep at it.

i agree with Marc. There are few panics that can't be solved with coffee.

Absolutely. For me, if I kept at it in a panic then disaster usually resulted. Put it down and walk away. When I come back with a clear head I often see what I had been missing before. This also happens from fatigue. Wood working is supposed to be fun so don't drive yourself crazy. And remember its great if it turns out perfect but few of us ever are perfect. So hang in there.
