I got sold via adds/web site/etc. I'll admit it- got suckered. This tool does nothing that several other tools (namely 'Roto Zip') , jig saw, router, etc won't do with patience and due care. I have a DeWalt VSR reciprocal saw that performs admirably with the right blade and speed control. If I were a 'tool collector' I'd not be disappointed for it does have some specific positives, although limited. In addition; an entire new set of accessories will need to be purchased at an outrageous (my opinion) price since the collet shank (which has been nearly impossible to obtain replacement} accepts only 3/16 dia. shank. My opinion, I let myself get ripped.

Not a big fan of Dremel tools either. I have a cordless 7V model that I have used twice to sand in some tight places when I was restoring an old piece of furniture. Recently, I took it out of the bag to use it the second time in about a year and the on/off/high/low speed switch kept on moving by itself when I rotated the tool as I was sanding. That was good fun (not!). Add to that, the battery keeps sliding out of its port shutting the tool off constantly. These things are cheaply made and I would never buy one again. They had a rep at Home Depot demoing the model I think you are referring to, Merrill, the other day. He tried to get me to come over and have a closer look. I snorted and walked away.

I Love my Dremel XPR 400 and Mulit-Max. I use and work them hard and they have stood the test of time. Sometimes you just get a bad unit. I sound like a sales person...yesh! Anyway don't doubt them cause the have worked for thousands of other people over the years.

I really do not care for the quality of Dremel. I purchased a profile detail sander several years ago, used it one time to restore a detailed dresser and put it up for about a year. When I went back to use it again it did not work. Had maybe 10 hours on it. Contacted Dremel and the warranty was up. Started reading the ratings on the unit and found it was rated 1 star.

Had a Dremel tool and it lasted me about 50 hours. I am not talking hard hours on these units, just to me the quality is not there.
