The Craftsman Auto Switch

http://www.sears.com/craftsman-auto-switch/p-00924031000P

This just might be one of the best accessories for the Kreg Jig. Imagine this, you plunge your drill into the Kreg Jig's drill guide and as you compress your drill's trigger your vacuum turns on automatically sucking all of the loose woodchips through the Kreg Dust Collection Attachment. As soon as your hole is done, you release the trigger and your drill and vacuum wind down simultaneously.  Cool, right? Definitely!

Perfect - now I just need to source parts in Europe.

If your well pump is controlled from a switch "above Ground" (i.e. you turn it on and off manually, which I think is what you're saying) - just add an indicator bulb in parallel to the pump.

http://www.ssac.com/timerscat/Sect8.pdf  this is a PDF file on the current web site of the current sensor for the dust collector switch.  Open the PDF and go to page  8.5  of sect 8 of the ssac catalogue.  This gives you the technical data.  The one you want is the TCS series.  The company is in New York however supply most electrical and electronic stores...
Enjoy sucking up the dust

I built this system for my shop after seeing it in an article.  This was long before such was even available to the general wood worker.  It interested me and I build it. I wish I could find the article as I would like to write him a personal thank you as it it has been a great system.  I do not remember where I saw it but believe it was in one of the many wooodworking magazines that I have read.

I BUILT THIS OVER 15 YEARS AGO AND IT HAS BEEN IN USE SINCE AND IT HAS BEEN HAS BEEN TROUBLE FREE ALL THIS TIME.  IT WILL NOT MATTER WHAT TYPE OF TOOL YOU PLUG INTO IT, IT WILL TURN THE DUST COLLECTOR ON AND OFF WHEN YOU FLIP THE SWITCH.  I HAVE A 240 VOLT  DUST COLLECTOR AND HAVE IT WIRED TO CONTROL ANY 120 VOLT TOOL I PLUG INTO IT.  IT CAN BE WIRED TO RUN 240 VOLT COLLECTOR AND AND 240 VOLT TOOL OR ANY COMBINATION OF THE TWO VOLTAGES.  IT IS CHEAP AND SIMPLE TO BUILD AND TOTALLY SAFE AS IT IS PROTECTED BY THE MAIL BREAKER PANEL.  IT IS INSIDE  A METAL ELECTRICAL JUNCTION BOX AND THAT IS IN THE WALL.

IS IS MADE WITH A RELAY SWITCH FROM A 240 VOLT FURNACE CONTROL AND A CURRENT SENSOR KNOWN AS A "TORRENT SWITCH".  BASICALLY I WIRED THE 240 VOLET DUST COLLECTOR INTO THE RELAY SWITCH. THE RELAY WORKS BY CONTROLLING THE 240 VOLT CIRCUIT TURNING IT ON AND OFF WHEN TOLD TO DO DO.  WHAT TELLS THE RELAY TO TURN ON THE CURRENT IS THE FLOW OF ELECTRICAL CURRENT THROUGH THE SENSOR  WHICH WOULD BE THE CURRENT YOU PULL THROUGH IT WHEN RUNNING THE TOOL(S).    IT DOES NOT MATTER AS TO  THE TOOL VOLTAGE AS ALL YOU ARE CONTROLLING IS THE 240 VOLT OF THE DUST COLLECTOR.  THE COST IS LESS THAT  THE HAND HELD SWITCHES AND DEPENDS ON NO RADIO SIGNALS OR RECEIVERS.  NOTHING TO LOOSE OR BREAK AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO LOOK AROUND FOR ANY SWITCHES.  TOTALLY AUTOMATIC, JUST FLIP YOUR TOOL ON AND THE COLLECTOR COMES ON AND RUNS AS LONG AS THE TOOL IS RUNNING.  TURN OFF THE TOOL AND THE DUST COLLECTOR GOES OFF.

Sorry there is not enough room for the completion so I will have to split the content into two

To Everyone who has requested this information about the dust collector switch:  Due to many requesting its plan It is best that I  just post the information.  I hope everyone whom reads it and or uses it as their own personal use and not try and start a sales on the information.  It was somewhere between 15 to 18 years ago that I gained  this information from reading books that I have long ago forgot the name of and or the person(s) responsible for publishing the information.  I have used it for about 15 years in my shop with great results and have always been grateful to the person(s) whom created the knowledge.   I studied it and researched it, put a plan together,  built it and it works.

Although I have many times been offered money to build the system for others I have refused to do so.  My reasons are personal as I  gained the knowledge by studying the workings of someone else and therefore refused to make a personal gain of profit from it.  I can tell you it works and works well and very inexpensive to build.  It is a system like no other that I have ever seen.  It was created when there was no other one available for any price and the nearest that came to it is the radio controled devices that you had to keep track of and were always where you were not.  It is simple to build and is a safe device that is at all times protected by the circuit breakers of your main panel.  Anyone with basic understanding of electrical wiring should be able to safetly do its construction and installation.   However please  adhere to local laws.

On my current unit I have it installed in the wall of my shop and protected by a main panel seperate from my home.  If I do it again I would make the unit portable and use a wall plug in system to make if not only portable but to satisfy any laws that prohibit the installation of a permanant installation of electrical devices.  Although its all electrical certified parts it would be considered a plug in device much like a heater and or your saw or other shop equiptment.

The system is actually a system of which can be either a multiple circuit of 240 volts or 120 volts and or a combination of both.  it will control a dust collector on one circuit and multiple tools on the other circuit.  It is just a matter of wiring the relay and sensor to suit the application of your design.

There is only one moving part in it and is a relay switch that controls in most cases the dust collector circuit.

Please honor  my request and use it for your own use and not sell it for a profit making venture.  It is knowlege that I am passing on to all of you to be of benifit to aid you in your woodworking adventure.  If you build your system and like it and want to thank someone, please say a quite thank you to that unknown person from whom I gained this information from so that I can pass it on to you.     Thank you,   Jay Boutwell
