The plugs are easy. We just squirted glue in the hole, stuck in the plug, let the glue dry, and sanded the plug flat. We spread wood filler on some of them, but that didn't seem to make much difference.
We used bed hardware from Rockler to fasten the rails to the head and footboards instead of the frame shown in the plans. I recommend that if you plan to move the bed. We also modified the ladder and the method for securing the top and bottom beds. Let me know if you want any specifics.
This set is very heavy when complete.
