We raised it 12 inches, which caused us to have to work on the stability after it was put together. We added a center board because of the full mattress, but you shouldn't have to worry about that. We like the height because we want him to be able to fit under it as he grows, use a desk, etc. but my husband feels like maybe it was a little too much.
