It turns the "L" shaped cabinet area into a more balanced look and in a way makes the refrigerator appear as a somwhat of a built in appliance. This is always more eye pleasing. I like the color combination you have used as the dark brown against the wall color the lighter floor covering is very striking. A job well done.
