We had two shoe cabinets that were designed to mount on metal standards. But, they were open cabinets which allowed the shoes to get covered in sawdust, like every other exposed surface in our garage. And since the wire shelving is being taken down and replaced, the mounting system needed changed also. So I joined the two cabinets together, added a back, mounted them on a french cleat, then made two doors from 3/4" poplar with 1/4" mdf panels. Mounting them above the shoe bench I made provided a place to store shoes and put a coat rack, making a mini mudroom area by the garage door.
