It can be done either way, the purpose for angling the bottom of the box is to help guide the sawdust to the vacuum better than the flat bottom.

Thanks!  Is the inside of the box sloped or just left a box?  I have seen it done both ways and wondered if angling the bottom was overkill.

I used 1/4" Pegboard, I put supports about 18" apart for additional support. That will hold what you can handle to assemble. You will need a sealed box under the pegboard that will add to the strength of the pegboard. If you have any further questions feel free to ask.

I have been in need of a good downdraft table for some time.  I decided that I would just convert half of my "big mama" assembly table to save space.  My question for you... is the pegboard good enough to serve double duty for sanding and assembly?  This has stumped me. I guess I am just too lazy to drill hundreds of holes in my current plywood table top.  I may have to just do it.

Steve, I can tell you from my point of view the Ridgid Spindle/Belt unit is a MUST HAVE, I looked at it a dozen times before I thought, well, ok I'll try it.  Now I wounder how I did without it.  The quick change system makes it a breeze to go from spindle to belt and back.  Just make sure you pick up one of those rubber eraser/cleaners for it!

Great job with the downdraft table, you can never have enough storage space.
