Here is a picture of the lid I made for my grandsons sandbox to keep cats in our neighborhood from getting into it. I ripped a redwood 2x4 and used the Kreg joint in each corner. I then used one 4x8 sheet of redwood lattice and with additional redwood strips to support the lattice and stapled it to the cover frame. A simple top and not too heavy that my wife can remove and put back on by herself.

Dat's odd, I made my cats a sand box to go in and they won't use it. So, the wife planted strawberries in it.
