The back splash were two 1x6's joined together.. The photo only shows one of them. The other is at the back just flush with the table. Didn't make sense to me, but that's the drawing. I would have made some serious changes as to which size wood to use. As a result I had to join the two boards together. I used dowel rod shoved in the screw holes and sawn flush. I should've done the same with the top, but I didn't. I also use this stand on the patio to put food and drink on it while cooking out.
